Revista Bio Ciencias is a peer-reviewed and indexed scientific journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality scientific information in the fields of Biological and Agricultural Sciences. The journal aims to promote the generation, communication, and discussion of scientific knowledge, as well as to foster critical reflection on current paradigms and emerging trends in the biological sciences from disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary perspectives.
The journal publishes original and unpublished contributions related to biological sciences, experimental biology, biomedicine, environmental sciences, veterinary medicine, animal science, aquaculture, fisheries, agriculture, and related fields. It also welcomes studies addressing socioeconomic aspects associated with agricultural production systems and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Publication Frequency
Revista Bio Ciencias operates under a continuous publication system, through which accepted articles are published immediately after successfully completing the editorial, production, and copyediting processes.
Manuscript submissions are accepted throughout the year. The journal publishes the following types of contributions: original research articles, review articles (by invitation only), short articles, case reports, technical reports, clinical cases, editorials, news items, and letters to the editor.
Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial evaluation to verify their thematic relevance, scientific quality, compliance with the journal's editorial guidelines, and adherence to ethical principles.
Manuscripts that successfully pass this stage are submitted to a double-blind peer review process, involving at least two specialists external to the authors’ affiliated institutions. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the evaluation process.
In cases where reviewers’ recommendations differ substantially, the manuscript may be sent to a third reviewer or submitted to the Editorial Board for a final decision.
Possible editorial decisions are:
- Accepted
- Accepted with revisions
- Rejected
The review outcome is communicated exclusively to the corresponding author.
Open Access
Revista Bio Ciencias is an Open Access journal committed to the free dissemination of scientific knowledge. All content is immediately and freely available to readers worldwide without subscription fees or access restrictions.
The journal does not charge article processing charges (APCs) or publication fees.
Manuscripts may be submitted in either Spanish or English. Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors must provide the final version in both languages (Spanish and English) or request the journal’s translation support service.

Ethical Principles
Revista Bio Ciencias accepts manuscripts under the assumption of the authors’ academic integrity; therefore, all published information is the sole responsibility of the authors. Since 2017, the journal has used the Microsoft Editor software, complemented by manual searches in academic databases and search engines (e.g., Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and others) to verify the originality of ideas, data, figures, and scientific content. If plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected or, if already published, retracted, and the author(s) may be restricted from future submissions to Revista Bio Ciencias.
History of the Journal
Revista Bio Ciencias began its activities in 2010 as a biannual electronic scientific publication affiliated with the Graduate Program in Agricultural, Biological, and Fisheries Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit.
Since its creation, the journal has contributed to the dissemination of original research, review articles, technical reports, case studies, editorials, scientific news, and letters to the editor, and has established itself as an academic forum for the communication and discussion of scientific knowledge in the biological and agricultural sciences.
Currently, the journal operates under a continuous publication model and is included in several national and international indexing systems, strengthening its visibility and reach within the scientific community.
Hence, Revista Bio Ciencias aims to disseminate high-quality scientific and technical information in the biological and agricultural fields and to promote critical reflection on current paradigms and emerging trends in the biological sciences from disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary perspectives. Its mission is to serve as a platform for communicating scientific information and promoting research, reflection, and discussion on topics related to the biological and agricultural sciences. Its vision is to consolidate its position as a leading forum for the dissemination of high-quality scientific information at the local, national, and international levels.
