Abstract

Revista Bio Ciencias publishes seven articles this time, six of them disseminate results from original researches and one more corresponds to a revision. The latter from the author Armenta-Lopez et al., and talks about an interesting topic in aquaculture, such as the use of feed for fishes with antioxidant properties, type of food that can represent a strategy to raise profitability in aquaculture. On the other hand, Moreno Diaz et al., identify different species of phytoplankton in one of the most important touristic places in the Mexican Pacific, such as the Bay of Acapulco. Thus contributing with important data on the temporal variability of these species that can generate harmful algal blooms in the Mexican Coasts. In the paper called “First attempst to criopreserve oocytes of red abalone (Haliotis rufescens)”, from the author Ramirez-Torres et al., different conditions to preserve oocytes of abalone are discussed, species with great value in aquaculture activities around the world. In this number, the group of Navarro-Rodriguez et al., publish the results of two investigations that were aimed to the study of zooplankton from a natural protected area in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, the estuary El Salado, an ecosystem with high anthropogenic pressure due to its location in one of the highest touristic growing regions of Mexico. In addition, they publish the variation of ichthyioplankton presented in a lagoon south the State of Nayarit, which by being located in the Bay of Banderas, it is not exempt from touristic influence. Furthermore, in this issue of Revista Bio Ciencias, Case Studies articles are published for the first time, opening spaces to non-experimental information, not so less valuable. An example of this type of manuscripts are the ones published by Ramirez-Albores et al., and Rodriguez-Uribe et al., who report different species of exotic birds in San Luis Potosi, one of the most important cities of the mexican plateau, as well as a species of otter in a estuary zone from the North of the State of Jalisco, Mexico. Hence, Revista Bio Ciencias fulfills its objective of making available for the scientific-academic community information that can assist in the decision making in biological and agricultural activities.
